🌟 6th Grade SPARK Field Trip Recap! 🌟 Our 6th grade SPARK class had an amazing day exploring local history, technology, and community projects right here in Hancock County! We started by learning about Rick Horton’s meaningful volunteer project to restore the Riley Park Spring House to its original beauty in honor of his mother. The class was inspired by his dedication to preserving this piece of history for future generations. Next, Thomas Moore took us on an exclusive tour of the Hancock County Second Empire jail, currently undergoing a fascinating renovation. He also showed us around The Depot, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at its history and future plans. We even had a chance to explore the Hancock County courthouse, where Mr. Combs kindly allowed us to step inside a few courtrooms—a rare and exciting opportunity! The trip took a high-tech turn at Photon Automation, where we learned about the amazing things they do with robots and lasers. The students loved seeing innovation in action! To end our adventure, we visited Hitherto for some delicious cookies and learned about Kevin Kerkhof’s community contributions. A huge thank you to everyone who made this day unforgettable! Our SPARK students walked away inspired, excited, and ready to keep learning!

On Thursday, November 7th, Eastern Hancock was thrilled to host three Superintendent Student Advisory Teams from across Indiana, Brown County, Wapahani and Eastern Hancock. These young leaders came together for a day full of collaboration, innovation, and meaningful discussions on the future of education in our state. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to connect, share insights, and brainstorm solutions to real-world challenges facing their schools. Their perspectives and ideas are crucial as they help shape the educational landscape for their peers and future generations. George Philhower: What an incredible day to see student voices take center stage! Watching and listening to these young leaders as they collaborate and share their perspectives on high school was inspiring and energizing. Emily Tracy: Three Superintendent Student Advisory teams in Indiana came together today to collaborate and help lead us in inspiring change in the high school experience! It truly is a relentless pursuit! I have no doubt that this work is going to have BIG impact! A huge thank you to all the students and superintendents who joined us for this inspiring day! It’s initiatives like these that truly empower our students to make a difference. Here’s to the next generation of leaders!

Halloween night at Eastern Hancock was a perfect blend of spooky and festive as the school community came together for a memorable evening. The National Honor Society organized a fantastic Trick or Treat event, creating a safe and fun environment for kids of all ages. The halls were decked out with Halloween decorations, and NHS students dressed up in creative costumes, handing out candy and treats with plenty of smiles. The star of the night, however, was the "EH Ghoul Bus" from the Transportation Department. The bus was transformed into a haunted spectacle, complete with eerie lights, fog, and spooky decorations. Drivers dressed up as pirates, adding a fun scare factor as visitors boarded the bus to experience the "haunted ride." Kids and adults alike loved the experience, and the bus brought a whole new level of Halloween spirit to the event. The Trick or Treat event and the Ghoul Bus added up to an exciting Halloween night filled with laughter, frights, and a strong sense of community, making it an unforgettable evening at Eastern Hancock! We had an amazing lesson on the election process this week! Our journey began with 10 incredible candidates in our Primary. After some tough competition, two nominees emerged: Mr. Rooster and Mr. T-Rex! Yesterday, these two candidates took part in a lively debate, and today, the elementary students cast their votes for the next "President of Eastern Hancock." The 5th graders planned the entire event, created campaign posters, and even had the candidates walking around the elementary this morning for some last-minute campaigning! They also managed the polls and crafted the platforms each candidate ran on. Huge thank you to Dana Smith for organizing such a fun and educational experience! And now, the results are in... T-Rex takes the win with 55% of the vote! Mr. Rooster put up a valiant effort, finishing with 45%. Congratulations to all who participated, and a special shoutout to our future leaders!
